What is Adsorbent

Adsorbent,also known as absorbent,which can attract active component attached to its particle surface,change the liquid trace compound additive into solid compound which is favorable for the uniform mixing. It is a solid substance that can effectively adsorb some of the components from  gas or liquid. 

Adsorbent generally with the characteristics of large specific surface as well as proper pore and surface structure;a strong adsorption capacity of adsorbate; generally do not react with the adsorbate and the medium; easy to manufacture, easy regeneration; has excellent adsorption and mechanical properties.
Adsorbent could be classified according to pore size,particle shape,chemical composition and surface polarity, such as coarse pore and pore adsorbent, powdery,granular, strip and carbonaceous adsorbent, oxide adsorbent, polar and non-polar adsorbent.

There are a variety of commonly used adsorbent including activated carbon with carbon as raw material (carbon molecular sieve is a special type of actived carbon)and adsorbent of metal and non metal oxide adsorbents (such as silica gel, alumina,carbon molecular sieve,molecular sieve, natural clay etc.).
